A day in the life of a Dog on holiday in Pembroke

I love holidays! Especially when I get to go to Pembroke with my humans. There’s so much to see and do there, and I always have the best time of my life.

We stay in a cosy holiday let that overlooks Pembroke Castle, a big old building that has lots of history and stories. Sometimes we go inside and explore the rooms and towers, and I sniff all the interesting smells. Other times we just admire it from afar and watch the birds fly around it.

But my favourite thing to do is go to the beach! There are so many dog-friendly beaches in Pembrokeshire, where I can run, dig, swim and play with other dogs. Some of the beaches are sandy, like Barafundle Bay and Broad Haven South, and some are rocky, like Freshwater West. They all have clear blue water that tastes salty and makes me thirsty.

Sometimes we go on row boats and SUP boards on the Castle Pond, and I get to wear a special vest that keeps me safe. I like to sit at the front of the boat and feel the wind in my fur and the sun on my nose. I bark at the fish and the ducks and the swans, and they splash me with water.

After a long day of fun, we go out for dinner at one of the many dog-friendly restaurants in Pembroke. They always have a bowl of water and some treats for me, and sometimes they even let me sit on a chair. I get to taste some of the delicious food that my humans eat, like fish and chips, burgers, pizza, or roast beef. Sometimes we go to a pub, where there are other dogs and humans to socialize with.

At night, we go back to our holiday let and cuddle on the sofa. I dream of all the adventures we had and all the ones we will have tomorrow. I’m so happy and grateful to be with my humans in this beautiful place. Pembroke is the best!
